Joseph Kayembe

Joseph Kayembe Kanga-Moy, who goes by K.K. Moy, is an established artist in Sub-Saharan Africa.  He is a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) but has resided in Lusaka, Zambia since 1972.  Joseph specializes in African wildlife expressionistic paintings as well as portraits.  He uses oil paints for all of his work and paints on unstretched canvas.

Joseph relies on daylight to construct his paintings.  The seven paintings themed African Wildlife were completed between November 2014 to January 2015.  They were inspired by the safari adventures that he and his long lost daughter experienced after reuniting after 29 years.

Joseph's paintings have been exhibited in international trade fairs in Munich, Paris, Italy, Japan and in the USA, by Zambian art promoters.  He has also exhibited his work in the Sub-Saharan African region: Lubumbashi (DRC), Kitwe, Lusaka and Livingstone (Zambia), Namibia, and Cape Town, South Africa.

He painted portraits for the late African National Congress (ANC) President, Oliver Tambo of South Africa and Nigerian politician and Executive Secretary to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Adebayo Adedeji.  He also did portraitures of the late president of Zambia, Frederic Chiluba, the Zambian veteran politician, Vernon Mwaanga and his family, the Zambian first Information Mminister, Sikota Wina and his family.

His velvet painting titled Mother and Child was gifted to George W. Bush on July 3, 2012 in Kabwe, Zambia by the Ngungu Cancer Clinic.
